Web design for family-owned businesses

A website that sounds like your family and sells like a pro.

Fast, accessible, built to turn visitors into calls, and registered to you: the site, the domain, the hosting, every file. If we disappeared tomorrow, your website wouldn’t.

Too many family businesses are renting their own website.

We meet owners every month who found out the hard way:

  • The site lives on a proprietary platform, so canceling the plan means the whole thing evaporates
  • The domain, the one on your trucks and business cards, is registered in the agency’s name
  • A “maintenance fee” bills forever for a site nobody has touched since launch
  • The same template is running for a competitor two towns over, with the colors swapped
  • It takes eight seconds to load on the phone in your customer’s hand, and they’re gone in three

None of that is an accident. Holding the website is how certain platforms hold the client. We wrote up the pattern in plain terms: can an agency keep my website? Read it before you sign with anyone, including us.

If you stopped paying your web company tomorrow, would your website still exist? For too many families, the honest answer is no.

The question we ask on every first call

The Twin Shores Way, applied to your website

  1. Listen for the voice

Before a single pixel, we sit with you and learn how your family actually talks about the work. The words on your site should sound like the person who answers your phone, not like a brochure. Our guide to the family business website shows what that sounds like in practice.

  2. Design for the next step

Every page gets one clear job: call, book, come in. Real photos of real people, headlines a homeowner understands, and buttons where thumbs expect them. Pretty is nice; converting pays the mortgage.

  3. Build on ground you own

WordPress, on hosting in your name, on a domain in your registrar account, with admin access handed to you at launch. In writing. No proprietary lock-in, no ransom when you leave. It’s also built fast and accessible, because slow sites lose customers and shut people out.

  4. Launch, measure, improve

Forms and calls flow into tracking you can see, so we know which pages earn their keep. The site grows with you instead of aging in place. When it’s time to be found, it’s already wired for SEO.

A website is also where your brand either holds together or falls apart, which is why this work pairs naturally with branding. We build a lot of sites for contractors and remodelers and restaurants, two trades where a dated site quietly costs real money. And if a past agency is holding your current site hostage, start here: how to get your website back.

Your site doesn’t just sit there. Jacko AI puts it to work.

Straight answers

Do we really own the website, domain, and hosting?

Yes, and it’s in writing. The domain sits in your registrar account, hosting is billed to you or transferable to you at any time, and you have full admin access from launch day. We keep a set of keys as long as we’re working together, and we hand them back the day we’re not.

What platform do you build on?

WordPress. It’s the most portable, widely supported platform there is, which means any competent developer on earth can work on your site after us. That’s the point. We will never build you something only we can maintain.

How long does a new site take?

It depends on size and how fast we can gather your story, photos, and approvals. Most family business sites go from kickoff to launch in a matter of weeks, not months, and we set a real date with you before we start. What we won’t do is rush past the listening part; that’s where the good sites come from.

Our old agency controls our current site. Can you still help?

Yes. This is sadly routine. Sometimes we recover the domain and content; sometimes it’s cleaner to rebuild on ground you own and redirect. Either way, you come out the other side holding everything. We walk through the options in getting your website back from an agency.

Build it once. Own it forever.

Show us your current site, or the napkin sketch of the one you want, and we’ll give you a straight read on what it needs.

Your domain. Your hosting. Your files. Month to month, like everything we do.
